Information we collect

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary for our work. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

• Enquiries. When you use our contact form, email or call us: your name, email address, telephone number, the type of enquiry, your project address and project details, how you heard about us and anything else you choose to tell us. Careers enquiries may include information about your experience.
• Musings subscriptions. Your first name (if you give it), your email address and the date you subscribed.
• Clients and projects. If you engage us, information needed to deliver the project, such as contact and billing details, property information, plans, photographs, approvals documentation and correspondence with consultants, builders and authorities.
• Website use. Technical and usage information collected automatically when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, pages viewed, how you scroll and click, and the site that referred you. See “Analytics and cookies” below.

How we use it

• to respond to your enquiry and discuss a potential project or role
• to provide, manage and invoice our services
• to send you Musings and studio updates, if you have subscribed
• to understand how the website is used and improve it
• to protect the website against spam and misuse
• to meet our legal, insurance, regulatory and record-keeping obligations

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for any purpose you would not reasonably expect.

Musings and email updates

Our Musings newsletter is sent monthly, and only to people who have subscribed. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe, or you can email studio@houseofgrant.co and we will remove you.

Analytics and cookies

The website uses cookies and similar technologies, including analytics tools provided by third parties, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These tools collect the technical and usage information described above. We use this information in aggregate and do not use it to identify you.

Some parts of the website, such as fonts and our Instagram feed, are delivered by third-party services, which receive standard technical information (such as your IP address and browser type) when they do so.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The website will still work.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where needed to run the studio and deliver our services. This may include:

• service providers who help us operate the website, send email and newsletters, store information and understand website use, who handle it on our behalf and only for those purposes
• consultants, builders, suppliers and authorities involved in your project, with your knowledge
• our professional advisers and insurers, and government bodies where the law requires it

Overseas storage

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information appropriately.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send highly sensitive information through the contact form.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires (for example, project and financial records), and then delete or de-identify it.

Images

Photographs of completed projects are only published with the client’s agreement. We do not identify clients or publish private addresses without consent.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing studio@houseofgrant.co. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
