Tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac, this five-storey Victorian end terrace was reimagined as a home away from home for a returning client. Set within a conservation area, the renovation and extension sought to preserve the character of the original architecture whilst introducing a more open and contemporary way of living.
The historic façade was carefully restored, with repointed brickwork, refurbished windows and a new feature entrance door retaining its Victorian identity. Beyond, the traditional architecture gives way to a modernist glass box extension, creating a deliberate contrast between old and new. Generous glazing draws natural light deep into the home, opening up the living spaces and establishing a closer relationship with the garden.
Inspired by British classicism, the interiors take a more restrained approach, with a refined tonal palette punctuated by sculptural furniture and subtle references to the colours of the garden. Rather than competing, the traditional and contemporary elements each have room to express themselves, creating a home that feels rooted in its history yet entirely suited to modern living.
